Abstract

This study examines the basics of developing Teun Van Dijk's news feed discourse analysis method in an effort to improve students' critical thinking and creative writing skills. The objectives of this study were to: a) describe the mechanism of Teun Van Dijk's discourse analysis method and b) describe the role of Teun Van Dijk's discourse analysis method in improving critical thinking skills and c) describe the role of Teun Van Dijk's discourse analysis method in improving students' creative writing skills. Researchers used a qualitative approach with participatory observation data collection techniques, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that learning resources through the Instagram page are considered effective in requiring children to continue learning without having to go through textbooks or textbooks and according to their interests in social media through the @kokbisa Instagram news feed. With Van Dijk's analysis method, students can assess the structure of spoken and written text because it includes three domains, namely text dimensions, social cognition, and social context. This time, the researchers only emphasized the dimensions of the text, namely the macro structure, superstructure and micro structure. This model plays a very important and effective role in helping students improve their critical thinking skills and motivating students to write creatively because students will face six critical thinking skills, namely interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation and self-regulation or rules. You yourself are received from the Instagram news feed. Apart from that, they can also compose their own language phrases according to their understanding.
